The non-linearity idea in healing is so important. So many ups and downs, back and fourths. We do not follow a prescribed path and cross off step 1, step 2... Thank you for sharing.

Your welcome and you’re right, focussing on ourselves and how we define progress and relate to our own challenges

Perfect!! This is a timely reminder to me and I really needed it. I’m late diagnosed ADHD, with Type 2 diabetes and Psoriatic Arthritis just to round things out. My inner voice is demanding, a perfectionist and I’ve always struggled with it.

Recently I decided that perhaps I’m not the person who starts a project and works on it until the perfect finish. I’m more the person who starts a project until something else needs to be accomplished and eventually comes back to finish the project. It’s not linear or organized but it’s how I work.

My mind still holds some pressure on me to finish what I started but it’s less harsh now. I’m messy and only slightly organized but that’s okay because so is life. My house is not waiting to be photographed for House Beautiful but it’s home, comfortable and wholly my sanctuary. I guess I’m learning to give myself a little grace and as you said, define my own progress. 💜
